The Consequence of Noise and Silence (2013)
video, audio, 1 min 40 sec
An experimental documentary capturing the dislocated relationship between image and sound experienced by residents in Darwin, Australia when Cyclone Tracy devastated the city on Christmas Eve, 1974.
Enveloped in noise, residents of Darwin listened as the cyclone destroyed their homes, leaving 41,000 of it’s 47,000 inhabitants homeless. As the deafening noise subsided, they emerged from their homes to find their lives in ruins and a haunting silence in its wake.
